In June we had a short break from French classes, so we decided to go see the Atlantic Ocean for the first time! We headed down to Maine with some other classmates, Ryan and Melissa Head, and Jonathan Blomberg. It was a perfect time to go because it was right before tourist season started so the beaches hadn't been inundated with too many people yet. The weather was nice; we were even treated to an amazing lightning show one night! The kids loved running in and out of the water, jumping waves with Ryan and Jonathan, and building sand castles. There is something about being at the beach that is refreshing to the soul!
Also, while we were there we visited Sam's college roommate, Dan and his wife Courtney and their 2 kids, Ceara and Caleb. While playing with them on the beach, Charlie decided to mimick their son Caleb in dining on some fine Maine sand. While Caleb seemed to not be able to get enough, Charlie's experience was not so pleasant. Since then, he has decided that sand does not top his list of favorite foods. For the grown-up dining experience, Sam and I tried lobster rolls for the first time. Sam was a fan...I am not really sold on them yet, but would be willing to give it another go! We could not pass up trying lobster while we were in Maine! We hope to get back their again one day...
