Finding the Extra In the Ordinary: Braden's Birthday

The day of Braden's birth arrived fast! We found out a couple of weeks before he was born that he was in the breech position. Bummer! We also tried a version in the hospital to flip him; he was a stubborn little guy and would not budge from his comfy position! So, a c-section was scheduled for Wednesday, March 5th (on Uncle Jason's birthday). Our good friends, Kelly and Travis took Talia for the night on the 4th because we had to be at the hospital so early on the 5th. We arrived at the hospital at 6:00am and got all checked in and hooked up to the IV. It was so surreal to us that we were going to be having a baby that morning. It's kind of weird to have everything so scheduled, but in other ways it was nice because we were able to have Talia taken care of, meals prepped, and a clean house to come home to (thanks to Sam who was a cleaning machine)!

After being prepped in the Operating Room, Sam was able to come in and they started cutting away. It is the strangest sensation to see your legs being moved, but not being able to feel them! It didn't take very long for Brady to come out (at 7:51am) and Sam got some great pictures (see below). I got to see him a couple of times before they took him into the nursery. That's one of the hard things about having a c-section- you don't get to hold your baby right away or see him weighed or measured. I got to see him almost an hour later. I do remember the nursery nurse coming back into the OR to tell us that he was 9lbs. 0oz. and 22 inches long! I was pretty surprised he turned out to be so big and maybe a little glad that I ended up with a c-section!
